Last week, the three-day Mac Crutchfield Invitational Swim Meet took place on January 29-31. The host team, ATAC, took pretty much all of the medals. Their times were amazing. Maclay Northside Dolphins (which is my team) placed near the bottom, if not last.
So I entered in four events in my very first swim meet. The first one, 500 yard freestyle, was on Friday. My time for that was seven minutes. I didn't watch the rest of the meet for that day for I had to go to bed early for the math competition in Pensacola on Saturday.
After bombing the individual test and doing okay in the team test in Pensacola, I went back to the Leach Center the next morning to compete in my other three events. Since it went in order from age and gender, I was always in the first heat (First heats of every event are always 13-14 girls, 13-14 boys, etc.). The events I signed up for on Sunday were 100 yard free, 50 yard free, and 100 yard butterfly. I did okay in 100 free and fly, but I did pretty well on the 50 free. This video is the 100 free event. I'm the one in the blue DOLF cap in the far right lane. I took second place in my heat.
